I’ve had it with this rain! Los Angeles should give God a quick call and remind Him that it’s “not in our contract” to endure this deluge. I keep looking for signs of hope that the relentless downpour will end – Perhaps a rainbow or a dove holding an olive branch.
Okay, so I’m prone to histrionics… But it makes for an interesting read! In all seriousness, I’ve never seen anything like it in sunny SoCal – Pouring like crazy without a break for days on end!
This flood really exposes how spoiled we are. For instance, I don’t even own an appropriate pair of shoes for wet weather. Not a single pair of galoshes, and even my boots are too fancy to brave these monster puddles. Maybe the Manolo he can help.
What does a resourceful California girl do? Toss on my favorite platform sandals and rationalize that my feet will dry faster than any shoe would, and trudge through the water with my pretty pedicure showing.
And what about a raincoat, you ask? Silly goose, this is Los Angeles! Hahahaha… cough. I do own an umbrella though! It’s adorable, too… But it has never seen this kind of action.
I’m starting to understand more about Seasonal Affective Disorder because this gloomy weather is making me SAD… I miss sunshine. Until it shows up I’ll be taking reservations on a two-by-two basis for upcoming ark rides.

Oh come on, 1997 was worse than this. That damn El Nino year was sick. We had over 40″ or rain that season.

Nah… that year most of the rain happened overnight or in sporadic bursts. I don’t remember ANYTHING this persistent. Though I do admit my memory sucks.

It could be worse I guess. At least it’s not snow.

Girl, I understand your weather rants! We just melted out of an ice storm. We just got our power back this evening after losing it at 6am on Thursday the 6th. Fun stuff! Hope the rain stops soon!

You, I believe, are right about the ongoing rain. 1997 had a high seasonal total but it was sporadic. One day of rain, three sun, etc.

You know if you go visit Manolo now, Manolo has put up very special wellies (galoshes) just for you!
Very classy indeed!

It seems to finally be ending here in Vegas, but it was an incredible downpour.
I suppose it will end there soon too.

In 1997 the rain was not sporadic. There was a period of two weeks when a cut off low occurred. The same storm was stuck off the coast and kept pounding Los Angeles. I remember it because we discussed it in my 8th grade science class and the damn teacher called on Llama to answer a question about it for extra credit when I was the only person who knew the answer.

Silentz, I know you’re brilliant but I’m still going to disagree with you on this one. Maybe you’re not listening to the news lately…
CBS: The National Weather Service said Tuesday that downtown LA recorded its wettest 15 consecutive days on record, with a total of 17 inches of rain falling in the period ending Monday.
Daily News: The downpour dropped 16.63 inches of rain since Dec 27, more than any other 15-day period on record since 1873.

You had to go and bring facts into it. It probably would have helped if I was actually in LA this weekend. =\

Love that picture of Noah’s Ark. We have it in our living room in Seattle, which is, uh… sort of known for its wet weather.

Hope the weather lets up… Wonder if weather conditions on the other side of the world have any effect on the weather on this side? Maybe all that rain is from the tsunami?

Oh man, I was in LA hoping to get away from Zurich’s winter and lo and behold I arrive and the monsoons begin! By the time I left last week more rain had fallen in the two weeks I’d been there since the 60′s! Ironically, since I’ve been back in Zurich, the weather’s been unseasonably warm and sunny!

We just got back from the Seattle area where it was sunny (if cold) and beautiful most of the time. Go figure…
