February 1st, 2005

February is upon us and therefore I need to snap out of the funk I’ve been in and get myself back into that lovey-dovey hearts-aflutter cupids-flying way of thinking. I must prepare for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday… Less than two weeks away!
Yeah, I know it’s a manufactured holiday, propagated by the greeting card industry, but I don’t care. What matters is making the people you love feel loved. Of course that should be an everyday thing, but let’s face it – In these busy times we need a holiday like this to catch up.
This year I’m doing something totally uncharacteristic, even socially progressive: After seven years of marriage it’s about time my husband should get a break from it all, so I’m going to take over and make all the arrangements for our celebration!
The only hard part is finding a fancy restaurant that will somehow satisfy both of our diverse tastes in food. Although I shouldn’t complain too much – Pasadena has some of the best gourmet restaurants in Southern California, so I shouldn’t have to search far.
Other than dinner, I don’t know what else to do though… Any ideas? Guys are so easy to please, bless their hearts. Volunteering to handle Valentine’s Day was a smart move… If only for the PMS he puts up with each month, he deserves it!

An advice I could give you is, as much as it is a cliche’ , this: Follow your heart. Hehehe. Anyway, the best of luck in your preparations and I do hope everything goes really well. Oh, and yes, I’m off to ‘hell’ for my ‘vacation’.
Advanced Happy Valentine’s Day!

I refuse to celebrate a “holiday” that commerates soldiers committing treason. Oh and there is no one to share the day with anyways, so bah humbug or something. But thanks for reminding me that I have to get my mom a birthday present.

Soldiers committing treason? Ok, now I have to make a stop at Google when I leave your site. Hmmmm…
Back to your question – men are hard to shop for because they never need anything. I think making the plans and pampering him is the best thing possible. Maybe a nice candlelight bubble bath for one or two? Slow dancing at home to some soft music? Something special and out of the ordinary that will let him know you care.

Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I are long distance, so Vday together isn’t going to happen. So we are making our Vday the 13th. And I hear ya. It may be a hallmark holiday, but I still would like him to know he’s loved

After dinner, you could get a hotel room — Make a night of it!

OK, I have this bad habit of responding to posts (and emails at work) before I have read previous posts/emails.
So I tried to make a funny about going to a hotel, then scroll down and read about the things that have recently resurfaced in your life. Hopefully you didn’t take it the wrong way and I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day!
