Currency

My boss walks into my office just now and asks if I’m able to stay late tonight. Why? Because after three years of working here she’s finally committed to providing me with my first performance evaluation.

Well now… How about that?

So now I’m trying to figure out how easy I want to make it on her. Should I go full-bore and regale her with factual testimony about my successes and make her feel like a skinflint, or should I merely accept the 3% increase and then spend the evening updating my resume?

Decisions, decisions… My money says she flakes.

I’m torn on this quiz. While I’m naturally inclined to say, “Screw them shitty bosses deserve to die a slow tortuous death” …Having had such a hard time finding a job I almost want to choose the other “Be glad…” option.

I would ask why the performance evaluations are not yearly. You’ve been clearly skipped over for the past three years. My company actually has a policy where everyone gets them at the same time every year and I love it.

Sounds like you hit quite a nice jackpot there. Spoil yourself, you deserve it.

Congrats on the raise! It’s nice to see someone with the balls to stand up to the man. Enjoy the extra cash. Word.

Your next post better be tips on how to accomplish the same thing in our own reviews (assuming I can get one). Like Lewis we’re all supposed to get reviews, yet I still somehow haven’t.

At my corporate job we are split into two groups and given our annual reviews in March and September. It’s mandatory, and no one gets forgotten. The general raise is between 2-3% but if you join any committees or take on any special projects the raises can be much nicer – 17-30% increase nicer. Problem is, you have to remind management that they can’t run the show without you. :)
