Hair Colors

Ashamed as I am to admit that I’ve given it any more thought, I am thoroughly freaked about having my hair dyed tomorrow. Over the past week I’ve been paying attention to all the colors out there, and it’s only made me more terrified… Am I making a big deal out of nothing?

Maybe it’s crazy to ask for nothing more than a richer, shinier version of my natural color. Is that too boring? As girlie as I claim to be, I’m afraid that I fall short in this category. I’m counting on some haircolor veterans like Crystal to pipe up and allay my fears with good advice.

If you’re going for something in the same color as you already have, then there’s nothing really to fear. If you’re getting it done at a salon, that’s even better, because you won’t need to worry about missing any spots – imagine my surprise when Eddie took pictures of my tattoo tonight and I saw that I missed most of the back of my head.

Another thing I’d recommend is that if you get it done at a salon, it’s going to feel great because they use some sort of magical conditioner that I haven’t yet found in a normal store. Pick up a box of Garnier dye on your way home, throw out the dye and just keep the tube of conditioner. A little bit goes a long way, and even using it just once or twice a week keeps stuff soft :)

Well, coming from a life long brunette, I had blonde streaks added last year that are just now growing out. Now I wish I’d have done the whole head just to say I did, but I have the spine of a jellyfish, so my suggestion is to throw caution to the wind and go for the change! Plus, you can always cover it with another color, right? What am I rambling on and on about???? GOOD LUCK, HON!

Though I’ve suffered the indignity of a horrible horrible haircut, with hair as dark as ours (unless you use sun-in) it is really hard to have a bad color, especially if you get it done professionally. If you’re looking to cover up gray, lighter browns looks better than platinum blondes (I read that in a magazine). I say, start off small with a partial highlight if you are going to try changing colors, or maybe a low light and ask them not to do a lot of your hair. Then when you are comfortable you can get a total highlight with a two-three colors and incorporate more of your hair. But don’t just do your own color… YOU ARE TOO FABULOUS FOR THAT!

Just do what Crystal says. Shes a guru! Take it from a guy that dyed his hair blue on a couple of occasions.

Very cool design! I especially like the ‘final frontiers’ images

Correction for Ed’s comment: He’s let me dye his hair blue on several occasions. And bright red on at least one.

Because that’s what a good husband does

Aww… You guys rock! Thanks for all the tips and encouragement. You’ll be pleased to know that everything went well. I’m sitting here with rich, dark chocolatey hotness right now.

Exhibit A: Girl I met while shopping said “You remind me of that actress from Dark Water” …I’d say that’s a thumbs up. W00T!

Sure! Won’t be easy to take a picture of my own hair, but I can try.
