Now that everything fell apart I feel it’s safe to share that we were planning a luxurious five-day vacation this week. However, my practical sensibilities got the best of our magnificent plans for relaxation.
My impression that getaways are for people with no bills and tons of disposable cash may explain why after nearly eight years together, this would have been our first real vacation… I am totally retarded.

Too bad. It sounds like you were looking forward to that. There’s always faking a vacation by taking a trip for ice cream to South Pasadena.

Aww too bad. Sometimes you just gotta do it anyway.
My hubby and I spent an obscene amount on our Anniversary this year, on a trip to Canada. It was our first real holiday – ie, it wasn’t back to England to visit family – and we had such a fantastic time, it was worth the months of scrimping when we got back.

Saving money is important, but not as important as having a life. I think you should go on some sort of vacation, even if it’s not your fantasy one. And um, can I come too? I really want to dive into that picture and lay on the bed and drink whatever is in that champagne bucket. *sigh*

You guys are sweet. We’re currently negotiating… I’ll let you know how it turns out. Maybe if we shorten up our stay (and thereby reduce costs) I’ll feel less guilty and self-indulgent.
PS: Neil, I’ve been to the Fair Oaks pharmacy for soda & ice cream, but if I were to make a local getaway out of it I’d have to go a little further south to Alhambra… I’ve never been to Fosselman’s!
