Tired of people flying through CGI bamboo forests? Here’s the cure. Thanks to a tip from Silentz, we caught this film during its brief run in theatres, then again on DVD last night…
Ong Bak - The Thai Warrior is a back-to-basics movie that doesn’t need heavy production thanks to its talented leading man. Tony Jaa is a fighter and stuntman whose Muay Thai moves are refreshing and often unexpected.
While I won’t argue that some of the plot and dialogue can be hokey, that’s par for the course. I still think it’s destined to become a classic. You’ll see why the martial arts genre developed such a loyal following.
Also watch for Tony Jaa’s next US release - Tom Yum Goong.

I never wanted to bash some one in the head with my elbow before more than after watching that movie.

OH MY GOD. This movie absolutely rocked! Not only were there no CGI or wires or anything, it also looked like he was actually bashing someone in the face hard everytime, too!

I caught the show last year and thought it was a blast! He’s better than Jackie Chan. No special effects whatsoever. He is a born-killer.

Thanks for the tips I love *good* martial arts movies.
I’m thinking of going to see Unleashed with Jet Li, not strictly a martial arts movie but in the trailer the fight scenes look great. Have you seen it?
