I find the craziest stuff when I’m running errands. At least every hour I’ll spot something that makes me giggle.
Last weekend I was cruising around through the nearby town of Arcadia, home of the Santa Anita race track, when I stumbled upon two businesses with unfortunate names.
Behold Young Dong restaurant! Why not stop in for a taste?
And its cousin, residing a mere two blocks away, Analist Turf… Think they meant Analyst?

Thanks for the comment. I was getting kind of Xanga to be honest. It’s really kind of cool that someone commented so quickly, I’m somewhat suprised.
Oh, and I find those business to be really kind of funny as well. I’m quite humored by a sign at the gas station that says “Air, Help Yourself!”. I might have to take a picture and post it some.
Again thanks for stoping by.

Arcadia is a slice of Americana. I used to run around there with blue hair and spikes on my wrists, getting chased by jocks and other miscreants… They never caught me though!

Having dealt with people in that business I think they probably spelled it right.

I guess Young Dong is better than Old Dong. Remember when our spy plane was accidentally hit by a Chinese fighter plane? Do you remember the name of the Chinese pilot??? It was Wong Wei… Totally not a joke. And as for the other one, it looks like the owner has been smoking too much turf to spell correctly.

Dave will attest to the fact that in Houston, there is a restaurant called My Hoa right next to A Dong.

Maybe Analist Turf is a special type of horse doctor.

Lots of similar entertainment down on Valley Blvd: The Poo Ping Palace, and menu items such as “neutralized goose,” “pork pump” set the mind to racing. For unknown reasons the little Braun handheld blender (Emeril calls it the “boat motor”) has come to be known as the pork pump in our house…

[...] It would take a much more savvy individual to get involved in money laundering, but with all the foul jokes I come up with, a sexual harassment suit may already be lurking in my future. [...]

Totally off the “riffing on stupid names” subject, Young Dong, despite it’s odd name, is actually a pretty good place for Korean BBQ and tofu soup. Try it if you’re food-adventurous!

Funny story… I wanted to see if I could find out what time this restaurant closes so I searched for “yong dong arcadia” and guess what? This post is number one for both the proper and misspelled versions of that restaurant’s name!
