Two weeks ago I had my very own Forrest Gump moment. Something posessed me to hop on a treadmill to see what I could handle, and I surprised myself by running for thirty minutes without dying. That’s probably nothing to most of you, but for asthma girl – That’s amazing!
Sure, I can go for miles on an elliptical or a bike, but I can’t remember the last time I ran for any length of time. If I had to guess, it was probably in elementary school at a Jog-A-Thon… What ever happened to those? Remember how you’d get family & neighbors to sponsor you for five cents a lap? I’d break the bank by running all day long. Suckers!
Now I’m training to run longer and harder, just to prove to myself that I can overcome a physical limitation that I’ve had for many years, and it feels pretty good… Well, except for my calves. Note to the hotties: What they say about high heels shortening your calf muscles – It’s true! But you won’t see me giving up my everyday stilettos any time soon.
Meep-Meep!

And I used to loveeeeeee to jog. Now I just power walk. Even that sometimes hurts the knee… And you go girl… Keep up the great work!

We used to have something called The Turkey Trot. I know how that feeling is. I don’t have asthma, but I did have SVT episodes pretty bad until I had it taken care of a few years ago. It’s nice to be able to do things without having to think about where the closest phone is in case of emergency.

So I just had my first inappropriate thought as a result of reading this blog, revolving around visuals of the author wearing stiletto heels. I must now go atone or something. I am bad.

You go, girl! I miss running. I’m riding my bike daily, and even that tends to make my asthma act up at times. But I’m not giving up… It makes me feel good!

I used to run… those were the days. Wow, I sound like an old man. Good job running for thirty minutes though, thats impressive and far more than the normal person can do. At least in LA.

OMG! The first time I got back into exercising and jumped on the treadmill I was like “Oh yeah, I’ll just run for like an hour or so.” Um, no. I barely made it two minutes before I was like “What? Two minutes? Give me a break! I’m getting off this thing and hitting the Ben & Jerry’s instead!”
I applaud you, girl!

[...] The moment I started running I realized something was going terribly right. I kept getting faster, and faster; I could hardly believe it. People… I’ve got WHEELS! My first time running apart from the treadmill was the most unbelievable feeling. As an asthmatic, I had given up on the idea that a sprint like that was possible for me. [...]
