Today I enjoyed the most amazing fantasy. It happened within a span of two minutes, while driving up Wilson Avenue on the way back from the gym. But it was so vivid and detailed, that I had to get it down on paper (okay, electrons) so that I’d never forget.
It started when I asked myself the question, “If I ever get to travel to India, what would I want to do?” and the ideas came flooding in… Only a few of which are actually feasible, but it was at the very least a lovely mental journey — Namaste.
Here is my imaginary itinerary:
1. Upon arrival, head directly to the best seamstress in town, and obtain an entire wardrobe of traditional Indian attire.
2. Spend the next days helping my host family boost sales at the spice market, while getting to know more of the locals.
3. Befriend a charming bride-to-be who later insists that I honor her by playing a part in her wedding ceremony.
4. Prepare for the wedding by making mandala artwork, receiving mehndi, and walking on rose petals.
5. Visit a nearby village to provide impoverished children with food, clothing, and medicine.
6. Follow the wedding party as they bring offerings to a Hindu temple.
7. Travel by elephant to the Taj Mahal for the ceremony.
8. Eat, drink, and dance at the wedding reception.
9. Reflect and meditate under a banyan tree.
No more Bollywood movies for me!

Great fantasy! Have you had Indian food before? DELICIOUS! I love Indian food. Go to an Indian Restaurant and you will feel just like you’re in India!

It’s been a very long time since I had Indian cuisine… Maybe it’s time to make another visit! Excellent idea, LaBella. It might cure me of my wanderlust, at least temporarily.

You must absolutely visit Kolkata (fka Calcutta) if you get the chance to go to India…
BTW, first time visitor here and I think your blog is absolutely gorgeous!
