We all have certain songs that get us in the Christmas spirit. Melodies that remind us of those very special moments with friends and family.
For me, although the surprise of seeing a different side of grandpa Matt through the Chipmunks holiday album is a contender, what really says Christmas to me are the classic Perry Como songs that my grandma Jasmine would play each year.
Every time I hear him croon, I am transported back to the sights and smells of her holiday celebrations. I remember every decoration, every detail. She was certainly the hostess with the mostest. Someone should tell Martha Stewart that abundance is useless without kindness, and my grandma had the market cornered on that commodity.
In her memory, enjoy twelve days of my favorite Perry Como songs. I’m sharing them with you as a little holiday gift…
You can use this interface to listen to these songs right here, or click the song title below the player buttons to download the files, and then they’re yours to enjoy any time. There will also be another three songs from Perry Como’s Greatest Christmas Songs appearing as the “MP3 of the Week” now through the end of the year. Also, be sure to leave a comment telling me which Christmas songs mean the most to YOU!
(Sorry, these were downloadable for a limited time only)

“O Holy Night” is my favorite. It has always been special to me.
It exemplifies the true meaning of Christmas.

This is the most insignificant comment ever… but did you
intentionally list the songs in order of title length?

And for some real fun stuff, get them all going at the same time.

For me, it is a toss up between “Winter Wonderland” and “Silver Bells”. My mom and I used to start singing those when cooler weather would set in. I miss my childhood Xmases.

I chanced upon your blog while searching for information about Perry Como online, and I would like to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed what you wrote about Perry. I am very interested in the music of the old crooners and even do some research about it in my free time. If you ask about which are my favorite Christmas songs… well, there are so many good ones that I don’t know whichj one to pick. There’s a very good one by Eddie Fisher called “You’re All I Want For Christmas,” and I basically enjoy all the Christmas songs recorded by Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. My all-time favorite Christmas album is a Frank Sinatra release on Capitol from the 50s titled “A Jolly Christmas With Frank Sinatra”.
