Snooze Button

Snooze Button

Some call it lazy, but I prefer to refer to myself as a power sleeper. Makes it sound sexy, doesn’t it? Once I fall asleep, I hibernate for ages! Without the horrible invention known as an alarm, I could easily log in a great deal more than eight hours a night. As a teen, I routinely slept in on weekends for upwards of twelve hours.

Research has started to uncover that both quality and quantity of sleep play an important role in the aging process and impact overall health. This makes me happy. It gives me a scientific basis for my love of sleep. So, instead of pretending it’s not merely an escape, I can say I’m doing it for health reasons… Brilliant!

I’m afraid I must take note of this phenomenon though: When I’m stressed and feeling blue, I tend to sleep a whole lot more, with particular emphasis on hitting that snooze button one time too many… Incorporating the physical act of turning off my alarm, and even the alarm sound itself, right into the plot of my dreams.

Needless to say, I’ve been late to work a lot lately.

God, I have done that too. I’ll dream about fire engines, until someone yells – “Are you going to turn that damn alarm off?”

The stress, she is an evil thing. Kanga suggests a nice weekend away from everything where our girl, she gets to do whatever she wants. Including the sleeping of the in. Also, avoid the Dew of the Mountain before the bed time!

I might also add that when that when I initialy viewed the picture on this post, my mind went to a dirty place and saw something OTHER than a hand coming out at me. I don’t know if its my state of mind or what…

Sleeping too much is glorious. It is SOOOO much better than being plagued by insomnia.

I can’t remember what it’s like to sleep for more than 6 hours at a time… Sigh. My alarm clock comes to wake me up every day between 6:40 and 7:30am, no matter what time it went to bed the night before. Consider yourself lucky that you *can* sleep in when you want/need to!

Nothing like hitting the snooze bar for a couple of hours to make you feel productive in the morning. And you gotta love sleeping for 18+ hours at a time, or is that only me who does that occassionally?

Friends of mine at university used to “power nap” for half an hour or so at a time. God knows how they did it, It takes me about that long to even fall asleep. But, like you, I sleep for a few days at a time… LOL!

I LOVE sleep. I wish I got more of it. During the week I usually go to bed between 1 – 2 am and my alarm goes off at 7:30 (I snooze every 5 minutes until 7:50 and then get up). But on the weekends my husband and I usually sleep untill 11:00 am, sometimes noon. When I was a teenager I would sleep in on the weekends until 2 pm sometimes. :) Looooove to sleep. I also sleep more when I’m feeling down. When my first husband left me I practically slept for 2 straight weeks. But yes, it is very good for your health, skin and weight/metabolism to get at least 8 hrs a night. One of my goals for this year is to try to go to bed by at least midnight. There just aren’t enough hours in the day (or night, actually)!

I got really excited when I started reading this post, because I thought it was just me. But then you said upwards of twelve hours Just twelve? I’ve slept for as long as fifteen hours and only got up then because of guilt for having wasted the day I’m still a freak!

I love, love, love, love, LOVE sleep!

I feel like I can’t get enough of it. And it’s not that I’m depressed or sick or anything like that. It’s just that very few things in life seem to be quite as pleasurable as hours and hours of uninterrupted snoozing.

    I said very FEW.
