I prefer my romance to have a hint of tragedy. If nobody dies or loses a leg…it’s just not romantic enough for me.

Oooh, good one, Dave… It’s been many years since I first saw Cinema Paradiso. May need to revisit it as a grown-up and see if I enjoy it even more now.

Some others that I probably could have put on the list are “As Good As It Gets” and “Someone Like You” or maybe even (heaven forgive me) “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

No “Doc Hollywood”?? Call me cheesy if you want, but there’s a scene where Michael J. Fox is dancing with Julie Warner and everybody else fades away… I’m not really a romantic kinda guy, but I thought that was a pretty magical moment.

If forced to choose, however, my #1 romance film would have to be “Cinema Paradiso”.
