Tonight I accidentally left my headphones behind at home, so I spent a two hour training ride contemplating the Zen of cycling while creating haikus.
Though I forgot the best of them already, here are a few that managed to stick around:
The peloton rides
Going downhill fast
Colder and darker
You fly right past me
Breathing difficult
Gravity may be
So quickly I can’t keep up
What gear were they in?
Gnats fly into my lip gloss
Much spitting ensues
Sunsets earlier each day
Purchase a trainer
But if you keep up that pace
I’ll smoke you later
Nostrils became obstructed
Snot rockets launching
Kind to you at this moment
But soon comes the grade

Heheh… Snot Rockets… You’re a Dork!
It’s sometimes good to leave behind the familiar to be able to hear what your soul has to say. Very good, grasshopper!

These are awesome. Long excercise sessions certainly are a fertile place for creative genius. No where else could one come up with such sublime poetic imagery as “Snot rockets”… It is so beautiful, I believe I have shed a tear.

Time’s ace makes the sound
Flap! Flap! goes the card
My bike loves to run
The more I pedal
The farther I go
Free for the moment
It’s a small price to pay
My ears ache
But the sun is hot
She has dew on her
This morning
Is a good day to make her whirr
Seventh, eighth, ninth
Will this hill
Never end?
My last ride on a bicycle
Wobbled, but held firm
Flying with the sun

Haha, you sound like you’re doing fan-f’n-tastic! I’m not an expert on haikus, but yours made me smile so you get a big hug! Too little of both in today’s world and you are living up to your moniker… You be da bomb!
