Atomic Bombshell

Restoration

January 7th, 2008

Band-Aid2006 was the year I took a few sticks of dynamite and blew my life sky high. 2007 was spent huddled up to avoid the fallout from that explosion. But in 2008 – I will start to rebuild my life.

Though I have not emerged from the rubble unscathed, an amazing team of supporters helped me recover much faster than I could have imagined. There simply aren’t sufficient words to express my gratitude.

Now that I’m on the other side of this mess, I almost don’t know where to begin. After spending the last week or so mulling over what I should tackle when, I came to the sad realization that money matters, so finding a new job is going to be priority one.

This is the first year in over a decade that I’ve looked forward to living. Perhaps my life is finally starting to turn a corner, and maybe, just maybe, it’s starting to resemble something that I’ve built deliberately instead of something that just… happened. Let’s see how it goes.

I cannot wait to see it all unfold! 2008 is our year! (If we weren’t on opposite coasts and had some great champagne to share, you would have heard our glasses clinking with that last sentence)

Later on in the day this item showed up in my feed reader, and I thought it was quite pertinent to the matter I just wrote about here: http://www.positivityblog.com/index.php/2008/01/08/...

Here’s to a great 2008! You, my dear, especially deserve it!

Oh, and I’m sad Band-Aid boxes don’t look like that anymore. That one is super cute!

I remember thinking that at the beginning of last year. Ahhhh, the cycle of life….
But I’m always excited to hear about wonderful, exciting opportunities for friends. Cheers to ABs 2008!!!

You are such a spitfire-dynamo-chicky that I think for all you’ve gone through – it will be a great year for you! Here’s to GOOD TIMES :-)

“…[R]esemble something that I’ve built deliberately instead of something that just… happened.” I REALLY like the way you put that. I don’t comment here enough about what a good writer you are. Too often my life looks like something that just… happened.

I also liked TJ’s description of you as a “spitfire-dynamo-chicky” in comment 10. Indeed.

Oh, I hope so. I have a good feeling about 2008, myself.
