The beautiful Ana (she recently became a new mommy) tagged me to complete a 20-item questionnaire designed to help you reflect on last year and plan ahead for this one. The hitch: Toss one question and replace it with your own, then tag a handful of friends to participate. My beloved blogroll buddies are invited to join in the fun.
Here are the questions & answers:
1. At what age do you wish to marry? In general, I think 30 is a great age to take the plunge, but I passed that number a little while back. You’d think that after finishing a divorce last year, my answer would be an emphatic NEVER, but fortunately that’s not the case. I’m optimistic about the future and I still think marriage is a beautiful thing.
2. What color do you like most? I’m a colourlover and I like them all! Blues and greens and purples go nicely together. I go on pink kicks. I’ve been smitten with reds and yellows and oranges lately. Be vibrant!
3. Where is the place that you want to go the most? Japan! And India is a close second. I haven’t done much traveling yet, but I hope to experience these places while I’m still young enough to enjoy them.
4. Which part of you do you hate the most? My pride. Usually in the form of self-interest and all sorts of vanity, like self-importance and momentary feelings of superiority. I struggle with pride (and loathe it) far more than any of my physical flaws.
5. When you encounter a sad moment, what would you do? I tend to be cerebral, so I’d think and pray about it, look at things from every angle, seek ways to help those impacted, and hope to learn something.
6. What are you afraid to lose the most? Bowel function. (Kidding!)
7. If you win $1 million, what would you do? After taxes that sum won’t get me far, but I could kill any remaining debts, do some neat things to help friends and family, then maybe buy a car and put a decent down payment on a little condo here in Southern California.
8. What’s your wish for the year ahead? Nothing major. Just a fresh start, beginning with a new job. Do you know anybody who can help me with this? Let me know, and I’ll gladly send you my resume.
9. How did you celebrate the New Year? Never been much of a party animal. I think I fell asleep about 15 minutes after midnight.
10. Why did you start blogging and why will you continue to do so in 2008? Originally it was because my ex husband ignored me and adamantly discouraged me from social activities. I needed an outlet. Now, I blog to document where I’m at in life, and also to maintain long-distance friendships… That means you!
11. Which type of person do you hate the most? Hate is a bit strong since I believe anybody can be redeemed. But my friends will tell you liars and withholders drive me nuts. I’d also be thrilled if I could prevent every rapist and molester from inflicting harm.
12. What is your ambition? To find out how God intends to use the gifts He’s given me. And also… Is it too late to have a dozen kids?
13. If you had one wish what would you wish for? To meet Jesus in person. It’s much harder be like someone in every way if you’ve never spent time with them face to face. At least I’ll get my wish some day.
14. Name a body part your significant other tells you he adores: I’m extremely grateful that there’s at least one person on earth who isn’t thoroughly grossed out by this badonkadonk.
15. What is the best gift you can give someone this year? True love.
16. List two of your new years resolutions: New job. New home.
17. A picture that pretty much sums 2007 for you: Click here.
18. What are two things you were most thankful for in 2007 that will make you even happier in 2008? Finalizing the divorce and “dating” the most fantastic person I’ve ever known. I don’t call it dating because we were already best friends, which is the right way to start.
19. What was the best lesson you learned in 2007? Always wear a helmet when riding your bike. Too many crazy drivers out there!
20. Are you doing what you thought you’d be doing at this stage in your life? Not even close, but that’s ok. I’ll get there sooner or later.
