Atomic Bombshell

Baby Girl

February 8th, 2011

Twelve days ago we welcomed the newest member of our family, a baby girl weighing a healthy 8 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 18.5 inches long. We had her second check-up today with the pediatrician and she’s already gained back her birth weight and then some. She’s eating well, sleeping plenty, and we’re just so excited to have her here with us!

A few days ago I watched as a light bulb went off for her big brother as he realized she’s a kid, too. I changed his diaper then hers, then gave him a bottle then started to feed her, and little man just figured it out. Wish I could say he finally learned what “gentle” means right after that, but unfortunately we’re still working on it. We’ll get there.

Overall, this birthing and newborn experience has been vastly more peaceful and joyful than it was the first time around. I’m sure it’s both a combination of the strength of already having experience with a baby of my own and also not having the extreme stress and anxiety of having my child yanked away from me and put into the NICU for a week. All in all, I’m so grateful to have enjoyed such a positive experience.

As you would imagine, My Ninja has been simply wonderful. He’s just the best partner you could imagine. We have some truly masterful teamwork going on around here right now as we wrangle these two munchkins and care for their needs. I am so grateful for my beautiful family. Never thought I could be this happy. Thank you, Jesus, for giving me an amazing life!

Quarrels Among Friends

Question: Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?

Answer: I’d high-tail it to wherever he or she was and behave like the best friend I should have been all along!

So happy to hear all is going so well. Mine was just the opposite – #1 was smooth sailing and #2 was… well he was an experience I will never forget.

They are both so darn adorable.
