Atomic Bombshell

February 19th, 2011

We made it through the first three weeks with a newborn and as good as we thought our son was, our daughter makes him look bad. She is just so sweet, or at least she is so far. This is a huge blessing because the past week was very difficult. Our boy caught a cold that turned into a double ear infection which didn’t respond to amoxicillin. He’s finally on the mend thanks to a stronger antibiotic but that was rough on all of us.

It seems like everyone we know, regardless of what part of the country they’re living in, has suffered from one illness after another this winter. Almost positive I’ve been sick continuously since October. The second the last chunky cough from the previous cold goes my nose clogs up with something new. Really looking forward to sunshine and warmer days for everyone’s sake. Bring on the Vitamin D!

Something I Wish I Hadn’t Done

Hard to say “wish I hadn’t” because I learn something from every experience. However, I can think of one specific incident that occurred at an extremely low point in my life that I wish I hadn’t committed. To be honest, I’m just so ashamed of my own behavior that I refuse to go into details because it’s far too painful and private.

Suffice it to say I’ve had dark days in my past and the depths of my own rebellion and self-loathing led me to a rock bottom that included some “acting out” which could have resulted in serious harm to me. No, I’ve never done anything suicidal, this was more of the seriously dumb variety.

Nevertheless, it serves as a reminder never to return to that state of mind.

I’m glad everyone is feeling better and that you’ve been blessed with another easy baby. 🙂

Carrie, just be prepared to be sick until your adorable children are out of their preschool years. At least that’s what I wish someone would have told me. 🙁 But after that, it’ll will be smooth sailing.

I am glad to hear Noah is feeling better. Hope you feel better soon and I am glad to hear that Zoe is a good sleeper (a certain Ninja filled me in).

Take care of YOURSELF. XOXO These years are tough, no doubt about it.
