CAN YOU NAME THEM ALL? …GIVE IT A TRY!

I’m sitting here trying to calculate how nerdy it is that I can hardly wait until the season two premiere of Battlestar Galactica - the only TV show worth watching these days. Oh man, I can hardly wait! July 15th can’t come fast enough… Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.
Naturally, the first season left off with a cliffhanger. But frankly, I don’t care which way it goes. This is the kind of show where you expect the unexpected and you can’t really guess in which direction the plots are headed… Except that no matter what, you know it’s gonna kick ass.
By the way, if you missed season one (Where were you, under a rock?) you can catch up via a marathon tomorrow on SciFi, airing at 10AM… Because if deadly nymphomaniac cyborgs don’t do it for you, why on the gods green Kobol are you reading my blog?

Thanks to my buddy over at Dot.Bench, I’ve been having some fun over at Anagram Genius, where you can submit any phrase and it reshuffles the letters to come up with a new, often funnier phrase.
Just for giggles I entered the names of some of my online pals (that means you, kids) and here’s the best of what it came up with…
Of course, the one that I found the most amusing was the anagram for my full name: One Chronic Barbarian… Surprisingly accurate. If you come up with any good ones, do leave them as a comment.

The Zero Boss assigned a book report: Five books I liked enough as a kid to read again as an adult. This will be the first and last book-related meme I’ll submit to because 80% of my reading doesn’t come bound and the other 20% is too boring to report. That said…
1. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis - Read it as a kid, and now I’m going to read it again to prepare for the movie that’s coming out in theatres this December!
2. Sleeping Beauty by M & K Craft - Because you’re never really too old for a good bedtime story, and as a sleep-a-holic this beautifully illustrated fairy tale will always be my favorite.
3. Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen - The first novel she ever published, and my favorite girlie story of all time. I’ll probably re-read and re-watch it hundreds of times.
4. Round Trip by Ann Jonas - Graphic design inspiration disguised as a picture book. It tells two stories, one rightside up and one upside down!
5. Siddhartha by Herman Hesse - It’s a fast read and it takes you on an exotic journey. The first book I ever read cover to cover in one day flat.
Feel free to share the kids books you’ll read again. I’m sure I missed some good ones, so clue us all in by leaving a comment.

I’ve been cheating on my website, and with work no less. My affections have momentarily been transferred to our corporate web presence, which I have decided to rescue from the tyrannical rule of Digital Insight… I can no longer bear spending hundreds of dollars every time we need to upload a new PDF or change a word somewhere.
Just for giggles, and because I think I’m such a badass now that I’ve learned a little about CSS and CMS, I used an extra database slot that we get with our Intranet hosting to test a new design. After investigating my options, I fell head-over-heels in lurve with an open-source content management system called MAMBO.
Installation was a breeze, and it took me less than 8 hours to customize a template and load all the content that we already had on our site, plus a whole bunch of new stuff that we couldn’t even dream of before - Like polls, and banners, and… I’m getting choked up. It’s just so wonderful! If you want a powerful, flexible web site, Mambo is the shiznit.
PS. I’m still a love-slave to WordPress… See ya tomorrow!

Greetings from Disneyland! …I’m amazed we ended up here today!
Originally, we’d planned to visit the San Diego Wild Animal Park, but then da bruver reminded me how lame it is. Then we decided on Knott’s Berry Farm, only to find that the school system had overflowed them with graduates. We ended up forking over nearly $300 just to get in the door at Disneyland, but I must begrudgingly admit it was worth it.
They’re celebrating the park’s 50th Anniversary, and although Space Mountain (my favorite) is still under renovation, there was still plenty of fun to be had. The Dreams Come True fireworks celebration is truly amazing. Plus, there was a ride that we hadn’t tried yet, which turned out to be a lot of fun: Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters!
That is the most unique ride in the park, because it’s also an interactive game where you earn points for helping defeat the Evil Emperor Zurg with the aid of your hand-held laser cannon. To infinity and beyond! They even take pics that you can e-mail to friends back home…

It’s not often that I find an article that’s so mindblowingly beautiful that I must pimp it here as my post of the day, but the Gamers’ Manifesto, by Pointless Waste of Time is more than worthy.
Check out this list of “20 things gamers want from the 7th generation of game consoles” and see if I’m not right: This guy was able to put his finger on things that have annoyed all of us about video games, and made some kick-ass recommendations that I hope the industry pays attention to in the future… Well, a girl can dream.

Another fabulous find from StumbleUpon - A guide to the origins and evolution of electronic music from Ishkur. If you ever wondered how Hardcore compares to Trance, or if there’s a relationship between Acid House and Tribal, you’ll find answers here. As a former “girlfriend of the DJ” and de facto club kid, I found the tour fascinating… ENJOY!

“Just when I thought that I was out, they pull me back in.”
Although I successfully resisted the allure of World of Warcraft and somehow managed not to hook the Xbox “Live” …It looks like Guild Wars might do me in. Maybe if the characters and environments didn’t look so darn badass I’d have a fighting chance, but alas…

So, are any of you playing this game? I beg you to tell me it sucks great big donkey balls. Lie if you have to. Give me hope for a normal life! Well… that or like, leave me some hot tips & tricks for newbie game play, because who are we kidding here… I’ll give it a try.
